WHAT IS WMCS?

Electrostimulation (ES) is well known for its ability to accelerate the human body’s natural healing process. Traditionally ES is performed by applying electrodes, connected by cables to a current-generating device, to the tissue.

Wireless Micro Current Technology (WMCS) is an innovative, simple, noninvasive, pain-free method to transfer current wirelessly to the human body. No contact electrodes are required, thus it solves the major issue of infection risk during therapeutic ES sessions.  Furthermore a significant larger area can be treated in one single session.

WMCS turns atmospheric gases (Oxygen and Nitrogen) to ions and sprays ionized oxygen molecules onto the receiving tissue. An adjustable flexible bracelet (neutral electrode), worn around a healthy wrist or ankle, closes the circuit. The patient is sitting or lying on an insulated bed/chair and thus the sprayed ion load is driven back to the WMCS device by a cable attached to the bracelet.

The Wetling Group (www.wetlinghealth.com), who owns all the WMCS patents, has commercialised WMCS as a medical device for wound healing. Dermionics has acquired the exclusive license to use this technology in the non-medical beauty industry.

RELEVANCE OF WMCS TREATMENT

1. Combat celluar level infection and inflammation

It has been proven that cellular characteristics of infection and inflammation are changed after 5-8 sessions of WMCS treatment. Below you can see the difference between day 1 and day 8, proposing the reduction of inflammation cells.

2. Promotes the natural Collagen Synthesis

Additionally, it has been observed that WMCS is able to increase the fibroblastic activity of the sprayed tissue and thus promotes the collagen synthesis. Fibroblasts make collagens, glycosaminoglycans, reticular and elastic fibers, glycoproteins (found in the extracellular matrix), and cytokine TSLP. Collagen is the most abundant protein found in the body, and is supporting healthy skin. Unfortunately, collagen production in the body typically tends to slow down with age.

3.  Accelerates angiogenesis

WMCS seems to stimulate angiogenic responses of fibroblasts. We have determined the phosphorylation status of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) members, which are implicated in cell proliferation and migration, and we have proved that MAPKs, such as ERK1/2 and p38, are phosphorylated after specific time of WMCS application. We have further investigated if the application of WMCS on fibroblasts, at certain time points, accelerates angiogenesis. We have showed that WMCS promotes their proliferation and

Effect of WMCS on Cell Count

Cell count is another way to check the proliferation rate of NIH3T3 cells after exposure to WMCS for 10min.  As shown in the graph, WMCS affects the proliferation of cells, especially 24 and 48 hours after its application (*P<0.05).
